LFG MNF Takeover: Bills vs Pats

Have you ever made plans with your friends to go to the big game? You get everything set up and the combination of anticipation and delusions of grandeur fuel you. Every. Single. Day. Then game day arrives, you show up to the stadium, and the weather reminds you exactly why you can never trust the meteorologists. On Monday, December 6th, 2021, that is exactly what happened when LFG pulled up for the Bills - Patriots game at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, NY, where winter isn’t coming, because it never left.

LFG faced the elements like never before. 30 degrees, heavy snow, and wind that cut through coats like buttah. After a few strategic beers to, you know, help fight the cold, we got to work. We had the pleasure of introducing our newest man on the mic, Max Cobb. Some of you may remember him as the Buffalo sports superfan I interviewed back in October. Both he and I are proud to say we lost our Bills game V-cards last week. For those of you who don’t know, LFG has multple meanings, and in this instance it stands for Let’s Fuckin’ Grill. One of the first tailgates we approached was home to a group of rowdy Bills fans and one hell of a grill master, appropriately dubbed Bills Mafia Sausage Man. Take it from Max, this guy's sausage was top tier. Mac Jones could never compare.

Have you ever looked at a meal and been left in such amazement that the food inexplicably speaks to you? Before you ask, no, I’m not talking about shrooms, although that would probably do the trick too. No, I’m talking about pierogies. Meet Pierogi Pete, the pierogi from Buffalo, NY with something to say. I mean, how could you not love the way he says ‘pierogi’?

Our Monday night adventure would have been incomplete without LFG’s Founder Grif, who, being the genuine Masshole he is proud to be, brought a huge sign that read, “The Bills won’t win the AFC East for 15 years. Debate me.” Both Max and I told him he was poking the bear buffalo but he knew what he was getting himself into. While he didn’t have to fight for his life, he did get rocked by a random Bills fan during an interview. We chased her down for a statement like it was an episode of Maury.

It was a great night, aside from the Patriots leaving with the W. Things got a little chippy on the way out, as Grif couldn’t resist chirping the angry Bills fans by whom he was surrounded. For the most part, Bills and Pats fans alike recognized that it was all in good fun, despite the sheer… distaste the fan bases have for one another. You’d be hard pressed to find a fan from either side who would put it so politely, but the point remains; they have one of the greatest fan base rivalries in the sport. Overall, did Bills Mafia live up to the hype? No question. Was the weather miserable? Of course. Would we do it all again? Without hesitation. Would we do it differently? Fuck no. Call it Love For the Game.
